From birth to the end of our life we follow a process of change and development. Human beings have a natural urge to learn and develop skills, knowledge and competence. For most young children this urge to learn leads to rapid growth and the easy acquisition of skills and knowledge. A few children have serious problems with learning but many more have smaller problems which can become obstacles to progress in their education.
In the Psychology Team we have professionals who have a wealth of experience in Child Development and Education who can advise and work with you to help your child make the progress you want for them. We offer three levels of help:
Whilst life itself is a great theatre for growth, Education is, it must be said, a rather artificial way of learning. No one ever sat down and devised the best way to educate. Education has grown out of the Scholastic Traditions of the Middle Ages where monks listened to learned scholars and read or wrote manuscripts. This way of learning specialist knowledge does suit a lot of people but by no means all of us, yet it is still the way that most students are taught. Nowadays we understand that students are individuals with different methods of learning and remembering. What we need to do is devise new ways of teaching and new styles of learning, unfortunately the growing complexity in delivering today’s education means this is not always easy to implement.
At the Psychology Team we can help GCSE, ‘A’ Level and University students to develop very efficient ways of learning, understanding, remembering and recalling information and knowledge for essay-writing and exams that will radically improve the efficiency of study, reduce the effort and shorten the time needed for success. We can also help them learn to cope better with exam stress.
